The Founder
After graduating from The Junior Plus School, a preparatory school in Montego Bay, Romulus Deenah faced a choice between continuing his education at a similar private high school or attending Herbert Morrison, a larger public school. Embracing the challenge, he chose the public school, where he found the transition smoother than expected thanks to the strong foundation he received at his previous school. Romulus thrived academically at Herbert Morrison for the first two years. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit during his ninth-grade year, impacting his grades and those of his classmates. In response, his parents decided to withdraw him from the school. With the support of family friends, Romulus was able to enroll in Cornwall College, another public school in Montego Bay with a proud history. The transition was challenging, as he had to catch up with his peers during a critical graduating year filled with exams and major assignments across seven subjects.Despite these obstacles, Romulus persevered with the help of available resources and a strong support network. His experiences in the public school system inspired him to create the Stellar Gent Initiative. After successfully launching and completing the inaugural program, he expanded the initiative to include both young men and women, establishing the Stellar Foundation. As Romulus prepares to further his education in Toronto, Canada, he takes pride in knowing that the Stellar Foundation will continue to connect him with Jamaica every summer, the place where he grew up and developed the values that guide him today.
